We specialized in creative design and print production two decades ago. Our first metal business card project was in the 90’s,  it was a nearly impossible idea. A company came to us, an auto parts manufacture sponsoring a local event, and wanted a metal card as a promo giveaway with a car-paint like finish. Technology like waterjet (cutting with pressurized H2O) and laser engraving were creating new possibilities, with the computer aiding everything, from plasma cutting to CAD files output to CNC (really cool specialized tooling) and later laser engrave in metal.
